What a nice surprise!

Postby PuffTheMagicDragon » Mon May 10, 2010 2:35 pm

A few weeks ago we received the renewal notice for the car insurance, it had gone up yet again, so we decided to check out other companies, and as the car is getting a bit old, we’d go for third party.........Trouble is, we forgot  and the renewal went through :(
Well, I met our insurance broker in a bar, a couple of weeks larter, I told him that we’d missed the renewal date; he said “you have twenty day from the renewal date to cancel it” :?: Dubiously I went to my bank, and they said “no problem”, :D what a wonderful surprise!

So, two weeks after the renewal, the original amount has been repaid to me, and I now have insurance that is more than €200 cheaper.
Just ask me, who’s a happy chappie

You are fortunate. The cooling off period is normally 14 days from the start of the policy or your receipt of the documents (whichever is the later)......and the insurer can charge you 'pro rata' for the time on risk and a fair administration charge for cancelling.

Good for you!
