Grape Vine Shedding

Can anyone please tell me if it is normal for a grape vine to shed a huge amount of "buds" and now leaves. This has been going on daily for the past 2 weeks. The vine is 6 years old and we have never had this happen before. It is not pruned because it is for cover on a terrace rather than fruit but I am sweeping up a dustpan full every day at the moment. Thought at first it was due to the strong winds but it is still happening. Grateful for any advice. Sonya

I think it is but I am no expert
