Everyone says that the best bit of advice to have a good independant solicitor but a) How do you know who is a good independant solicitor, and, b) What is the normal cost for handling a purchase (conveyancing) as I have had 1% of purchase price mentioned. This is just for conveyancing not any additional fees.
In UK the conveyancing cost is usually fixed at around £400+ plus addition search fees etc.

Hello Kirail. You can find an independent solicitor by contacting my office. We use various trusted lawyers. As regards conveyancing. I carry out this service for a fee which is inferior to the 1% quoted.
I hope that this has been useful for you. If you need any further information you may contact me by email or send me your email address.

Re: Good Independant solicitor
Thanks for replies - I have 2 names and I have seen other favourable reviews for these two so will decide at the time. Michael has obviously had a bad experience but no PM yet!
